Kroger, Metro Government Announce ‘Phase Two’ of Collaboration

A partnership between The Kroger Company and Louisville Metro Government will now offer free financial empowerment services to customers inside select Kroger grocery stores.
Louisville Metro government is teaming up with The Kroger Company to provide financial empowerment services to residents across the city. The Kroger and Bank On Louisville Food and Financial Access Program will supply on-site outreach for customers of Kroger’s Mobile Markets, which travel neighborhoods that have limited access to food.
Funding through the Intuit Financial Freedom Foundation expands the number of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites. LABC, which operates the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in the Louisville area, will use the funding to add an 11th free tax filing site in 2023, and to recruit and train the additional volunteers necessary to staff the new site.
Bank On Louisville announced that Republic Bank’s Simple Access account was officially certified by the national Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund) as meeting the Bank On National Account Standards (2021 – 2022). The national safe account Standards, co-created by consumer advocates, leading national nonprofit organizations, civic leaders, and other financial institutions, designate both core and strongly recommended features that ensure low cost, high functionality, and consumer safety.
The Kentucky Financial Empowerment Commission, in conjunction with the United Way of the Bluegrass and Bank On Louisville announced the launch of the Kentucky Bank on Network (KBON). KBON is a statewide partnership committed to increasing bank accessibility and accounts for individuals and businesses across the Commonwealth.
